TTK5 Satellite-based Navigation Techniques and Applications
Lectures Fall 2020: Digital
Instructors: Adjunct Associate Professor Nadia Sokolova (nadia.sokolova@sintef.no)
Description: This course is an introduction to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and GNSS augmentation. This includes GNSS principles and measurement processing algorithms, augmented GNSS system architectures and applications. The course will also cover selected topics on GNSS integration with other navigation systems and/or sensors with the major focus on RF signal based ones. Of particular topics, the following will be covered in 2020:
- GNSS
- current and future systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galieo, Beidou)
- principles of operation
- signal structure
- GNSS observables
- errors and vulnerabilities
- single point position and velocity calculation (LS, WLS, EKF)
- GNSS system security aspects
- Augmented GNSS
- Differencial GNSS (DGNSS) principles
- High accuracy techniques: RTK, PPP, PPP-RTK
- Navigation system integrity principles
- High integrity systems and applications
- GNSS integrated with other sensors
- Commonly used sensors/systems
- Measurement types and techniques (TOA, AOA, RSS, etc.)
- GNSS/INS integration architectures
- Multi-sensor system example (GNSS/INS with visual aiding)
